We went to the Fair

So we are more than half way thru the Marshfield Fair, and I have to say our first experience at this kind of event has been both eventful and educational. 2009 has been a year of firsts for Almar on the marketing front. As part of our 50th Anniversary we held our first Client appreciation cook at the office in Hanover, now we are at the Marshfield Fair and in October we will be at the Carver Octoberfest.

I was not quite prepared for what an event like this would entail. I knew it would be a lot of work, but I think we have pulled it off pretty well. I got some great project photos blown up and we set up a large display in the back of our booth. I have always know we do pretty projects but they seem so much nicer with the photos blown up and on a nice black background. I got some awesome Almar balloons only to find out I couldn’t give them away, so they will be saved for another event soon.

A number of people have asked me “why are you doing the Marshfield Fair” and simply, we are here to reinforce to all of you that we are still here. After 50 years and the tough times lately we are still working to keep your homes working for you and your families. We’ve have gotten to talk to some great people we might not have ordinarily gotten the chance to meet face to face, and talk to people who already know Almar but didn’t realize we did this or that, or knew the quality of work we did. So old friends have been just as important as the new friends we’ve made.

It’s funny, but I love to talk about remodeling, ideas for your home, and products and all the cool things you could do. It’s like getting to do a make-over everyday. Just don’t ask me about colors cause I’ll have to refer you Paulette (the Custom Decorator) And I just love to brag about my guys and crews. They are simply the best. Mark who has been with us 20 years is so much more than family, and when it comes down to it don’t your really want someone who is like family working in your home. Someone you can trust and feel comfortable talking to about the process and any questions or concerns you might have?

It’s been a long week, long days. We have been doing our best to keep the office open regular hours and the booth manned all day. So the 7:30am to 10:00pm had worn us out. But I think it has been worth it, we have learned a lot and gotten to see a lot from a new perspective.

My hope is that these last few days prove to be as busy and eventual as the past, and I just hope that the threat of rain and tropical storm (soon to be hurricane) “Danny” doesn’t ruin the few remaining days. If you’re planning to wait till this weekend to come to the fair I’d suggest you make it down here Friday night. The weather is suppose to be great, it’s Marshfield Day there will be the battle of the bands, Demolition Derby Finals, and Wine & Roses (flower show and wine) And be sure to see Ori at the Falafel stand next to us.

About Ori The Pembroke Express today Said: "Seek out the simple booth with a handmade wooden sign declaring “Falafel,” and you will be warmly welcomed by a Middle Eastern family making superb Falafel and deeply satisfying Turkish coffee. Falafel is a seasoned fritter made with chickpeas and a heady combination of Middle Eastern spices such as baharat, cumin and paprika. These little nuggets of flavor are offered along with hummus, grape leaves and pita bread. This delightful family is traveling the country bringing homemade Middle Eastern food and a warm family welcome with them."

Design Build - One Stop Shopping

I was taking some time recently to catch up with people on facebook, when I came across a status update from one of our clients. She was seeking help from her online friends to find good architects who could help her design an In-law addition. I quickly thought to myself "OH NO! She doesn’t know about our design-build process!"

I quickly messaged her and told her that if she was looking for an architect I know a really good one. We are always happy to work with architects but some projects we find don’t need them or some client’s budgets don’t work well with the architect model. I also told her that Almar has what we call a Design Build process where we can do designs and plans in house for her as part of our one-stop-shopping experience.
Almar’s Design Build process starts with your budget and we create plans that help you visually see your project before Almar starts to build it. Our process combines the design with our remodeling knowledge right from the beginning, allowing you and Almar to have input into the project even before work gets started! As the customer, you are the most important member of our design-build team. Your wishes and ideas drive the design, materials, selection and budget. Our state of the art design software allows 3 dimensional photo-realistic renderings, site and floor plans and walk-through of your project.

The Design/Build process provides you with the convenience of working with one company to design and build your entire project. This method eliminates communications problems that often pop up between an architect and the contractor that leave you in the middle, often having to pay more to one or both of them to solve the problem.

One of the things I really like about this process is when we are done and have a set of plans you could go away on vacation and come back to have the project done exactly how it laid out in the plans. In addition to these great features.

* One point of contact and responsibility for building plans, interior design, and construction.
* Greater quality control at every step and with every choice.
* Early knowledge of firm costs, and therefore, no grand surprises late in the project.
* Build-able plans are created early on, so you can proceed with confidence.
* Costs are controlled.
* The project begins on time and ends on time.
* Your designers and professional builders have the experience with the products you will use.
* Better all around communications, from start to finish.

So don’t forget if you are thinking about that addition, expanded kitchen, bath or basement give ALmar a call first.
